President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday commissioned the Kaduna- Abuja railway project which was initiated by the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking at the train’s main station at Idu, Abuja, the President said the federal government would link all states and commercial centres in the country with rail lines.
Present at the ceremony were Senate President Bukola Saraki; Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi; Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, among many other aides of President Buhari, as well as chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The president later took a train ride from Idu to Kubwa, Abuja.
The project was implemented to an advanced stage before the end of that government.
